Greers Ferry (Hwy 25) Results

Greers Ferry Hwy 25 Champions
Nicky Gates and Fuzzy Gates
5 bass---14.09 lbs
Big Bass---5.15 lbs
---------------------------------
2nd Place
Michael Brand and Nate Watson
5 bass---12.75 lbs
--------------------------------
3rd Place
Brad Lewis and Dustin Roddy
5 bass---12.07 lbs
--------------------------------
Congratulations to Nicky and Fuzzy Gates! They were able to weather the strong winds and cool temperature to bring in a nice sack of bass. Their total weight of 14.09 was enough to win the 20 boat tournament by more than a pound. It looks like they are trying to establish themselves as the team to beat again in 2010. Behind them was Michael Brand and Nate Watson. They brought in 5 bass for 12.75 pounds and it looks like Brand is going to try to pressure the Gates duo again...like 2009. This year he plans to do that with a new partner, Nate Watson. Third place went to Brad Lewis and Dustin Roddy. They were a close third with 12.07 pounds. They had a nice 4.80 lb fish, but they were outdone for Big Bass honors by the Gates' 5.15 lb largemouth.
--------------------------------
Tournament Stats
20 boats
39 fishermen (or women)
53 fish weighed
93.90 lbs of bass
13 new 2010 Jackson County Bass Club members
6 limits were weighed and 12 of 20 boats weighed 3 or more bass
1 lower unit out (this makes two motor problems this year)
1 rod and reel combo dropped in the lake (that I know of)
2010's first appearance of Rob and Ratt!!!
---------------------------------
Thanks for making it such a great tournament again and I look forward to seeing everybody at Norfork. Thanks to Mike Warren, I hope to have some pics posted in the next few days. I didn't realize until today that I actually had the camera with me at the tournament.

Greers Ferry Tournament March 13

Our March 13th tournament at Greers Ferry Lake will be at the Old Hwy 25 ramp. We will start fishing at 7:00 and probably finish at 3:00. Please try to be there by 6:30 so everybody can get registered and on the water in time for launch. I have had some computer difficulties at home, so I haven't been able to update the website with pictures yet. I hope to have that done in the next few days. Although, the pictures are not that impressive....haha!

White River North Tourney Results

White River North Champions
Mark Clairday and Jason Denney
2 bass---2.35 lbs
Big Bass---1.20 lbs
--------------------------------
2nd Place
Mike Warren and Chuck Coe
2 bass---1.95 lbs
--------------------------------
3rd Place
Justin Doyle
1 bass---1.14 lbs
-------------------------
Congratulations to all of the newcomers (and Mike)! The new team of Mark Clairday and Jason Denney were able to battle the conditions to bring home the win. They caught two keeper bass on a day where 75% of the boats didn't weigh a fish. Mike and Chuck caught two keepers as well and that brought them to the second place position. Justin Doyle caught a monster smallmouth (considering the day) to edge out Bobby Gates and Jason Walker for third place.
Now, I will say this...if you voted to fish at this place a few weeks ago, you are fired! It is not a good sign when more trout are caught than bass. I am looking forward to our next tournament in two weeks (even though our motor is busted)! I will determine the launching site as soon as possible.
-------------------------
Tournament Stats
16 boats (great turnout for this location and time of year)
31 fishermen
6 fish weighed (yes, only 6)
6.18 lbs of bass
-------------------------
Thanks to everyone for coming out!

Pre-Fishing is OVER!!!

Wow! I can't believe it is time to say that again. It seems like it was just a couple of weeks ago that we were crowning Nicky and Fuzzy Gates as Anglers of the Year and Marvin Ross as the JCBC Classic Champion for 2009. We are set to start the 2010 season on the White River at Martin Access. For those that plan to attend, please be there by 8:30 to make sure we have everything taken care of and ready for the 9:00 launch.

I have been keeping an eye on the river level and the weather. The river level should be fine if we can avoid a big rain between now and Saturday. Both of the weather sites that I have been watching (weather.com and kait8.com) are showing a slight chance of rain on Friday, so we should be fine. They also show that we should have a high in the mid 40s, so bundle up Saturday. For those of you who are debating whether to show or not, please remember that we drop each team's two worst tournament results for AOY standings. I look forward to seeing everybody that can make it!

Call if you have any questions.

JACKSON COUNTY BASS CLUB 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here we go again! It is almost that time. Last week we had a nice crowd for our meeting and we discussed many different things. I have thought all winter that last year went pretty well, but after the meeting I realized that it really did go well. We thought about changing numerous rules, but everybody pretty much agreed that everything was fine like it was. We are going to fish an 11 tournament schedule before the classic. We will once again drop the worst two tournament results for each team. This allows you to either take a couple off, or just fish them all and pick your top 9 results before the classic.

Now it is time to release the schedule. We will see if the team of Nicky and Fuzzy Gates will repeat as Anglers of the Year for 2010.

February 27------White River North-Martin Access
March 13---------Greers Ferry (Ramp TBD)
April 3------------Norfork
April 24-----------Greers Ferry (Ramp TBD)
May 8-------------Lake Conway
May 29------------Peckerwood
June 19------------Morgan's Point
July 10------------Hurricane
July 24------------Seven Mile/Cache Bayou
August 14----------White River (Jacksonport)
September 4-------Peckerwood
September 18------CLASSIC (TBD)

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. If the number of phone calls that I have received over the last 6 weeks is any indication, I think we are all looking forward to our 2010 fishing!

CHANGE OF PLANS FOR CLASSIC

We originally planned to launch at the Narrows, but due to safety concerns, we will launch from Devils Fork. The plan is for everybody to be ready to take off at 6:15 am. Please pass the word on about this change. If you have any questions regarding the Classic, please feel free to call me.

Good Luck to everybody!
