Congratulations to Nicky Gates and Jesse Cordell!  They started off the 2013 season with a bang.  On a day when fishing was pretty tough, they fought the conditions and tough bite to bring in the only limit of the day.  Their 5-fish limit weighed 13.71 pounds and included a 4.35 lb kicker fish that won the Big Bass Award.  Second Place went to Brad Kieffner and Billy Keedy with 4 fish that weighed 12.43 lbs.  Third place was Jason Walker and Jason Gates with 2 fish that weighed 7.48 lbs.  Fourth was Justin Doyle and Chip Youngblood with 3 fish and 6.04 lbs.  Fifth place was secured by Mitch Brannon and his 1 bass that weighed 3.48lbs.  Congrats to all of these guys!

It was a pretty tough day with cold, windy air.  The bite was pretty tough for everybody.  We had a wonderful crowd, and I hope to see everybody in Conway (plus some others) on March 16th.  We will try to have pictures posted on the site (and on our facebook page) in the next few days.

Weather Update...not too bad!

When we scheduled our first tournament for February 23rd, we knew that the weather could be a problem.  If someone would have told me that our tournament day was going to be sunny with a high of 50, I would have said "GREAT"! 

The Saturday forecast for Hughes currently shows mostly sunny with a high of 49 degrees and only a 7 mph wind.  Obviously this isn't ideal conditions, but we have all fished in worse conditions. 

This blog has really picked up views over the last couple of weeks.  Our blog has had 126 page views in the last 8 days.  I just thought that you might want to know that.

I still believe we will have a good crowd Saturday and it will get our season started out right!

Here We Go!!!

It is time for the Jackson County Bass Club fishing season to begin!  I am aware of a number of guys that have pre-fished the last couple of weeks, and it seems like we are going to have a pretty good crowd this Saturday. 

We will take off from Pete's/Clyde's ramp on the southwest part of the lake ($5 per boat to launch). We will take off at 7:00, so please try to be there by 6:30.  We will take off in order of last year's final AOY standings.  Please be prepared to fish from 7:00 through 3:00pm.  We may not fish that long, but it looks like the weather may allow us to fish until 3:00. 

I have talked to a number of people that know somebody that wants to fish with our club.  Please remember....if a person is new to our club or hasn't fished with us much lately, they will be required to pay the following:  membership dues ($25), Horseshoe entry fee ($25), AND ($25) as an entry fee to a tournament later in the year.....total of $75 per new person.  This is the rule for the first tournament only.  If you want to fish with us later in the year, you need to be a member 30 days prior to fishing one of our tournaments.  So members, if you know someone interested, have them contact me ASAP.  (If you/they need to pay now, please call me at 870-512-9400).
