Updated AOY Standings (03/18/09)

Remember, we have now fished two tournaments, but you may not even have to use these two tournaments in your final standings. If you don't like your results from either of the first two tournaments, you might want to try to show up to all of the rest to have a chance at AOY. First we have to get someone to beat Michael and Shane!!!

-------------------------------------------
Congratulations to Michael Brand and Shane Ray, AGAIN! They overcame the cool conditions to bring 4 bass to the weigh-in adding up to 11.17 pounds. Their big fish was a nice 5.21 lb largemouth. Congrats also needs to go to Nicky and Fuzzy Gates and Jerry and Shawn Gates. They were the only two other boats that brought 4 fish to the weigh-in. The bass bite seemed to be a little slow, but seeing an 11 pound sack proves that they could be caught today. I have downloaded numerous pictures from today's event and I will post them in the next day or two. I will update the AOY standings in a few days as well.
--------------------------------------------
Tournament Stats:
15 boats
30 fishermen
25 bass weighed
39.85 lbs of bass
10 new members of the club (brings the total to 37 club members...over $700 in the classic pot)
-------------------------------------------
I think that I should also congratulate Rob Hill and Dewight Jackson for catching the most pickerel. I can't really confirm this, but they seemed pretty confident about it...hahaha!!!!

Thanks to everybody for fishing and I look forward to seeing you at Norfork April 11th.

Bald Knob Lake Tourney

Well, it's that time again. Saturday brings another Jackson County Bass Club tournament. This week it is at Bald Knob Lake. I have had numerous phone calls asking if we are still going to fish Saturday and the answer is YES. Unless the forecast drastically changes, it looks like the weather shouldn't be too bad. It looks like it will be around 40-45 degrees with a 30% chance of showers. It will be a little cool, but we can handle it.

We are going to start at 8:00. Please try to be there by 7:30. Last week went pretty well, but even with a lot of people showing up early, we almost didn't get started on time. There will probably be a group meeting at the Wal-Mart parking lot that will go eat breakfast at Bald Knob. It hasn't been confirmed, but I would think it will be around 6:15.

We had 15 boats last week and I have already been contacted this week by 4 other boats that plan to be there this week. I have heard of a few more that may be coming, too. If you remember, at our meeting at the beginning of the year, one of the things that I asked was to try to recruit some new boats. It seems like everybody is doing their part. Thank you very much! You are only making the club better.

The decision has been made to change one of our club rules. The rule involves guest fishermen. Now, any child, 15 years old or less, may fish as a guest with their parent/grandparent/guardian as many times as they would like without paying a membership fee. They will still be required to pay the entry fee for each tournament. They will not be allowed to fish in the classic if they haven't paid their membership fee. Hopefully this will entice some youngsters to want to join the club in the future.

Remember, there is a comment button just below this post. Feel free to post a comment....it is easy to do.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call (870) 512-9400.

Be careful and Good Luck Saturday!

1st place 20 points
2nd place 10 points
3rd place 5 points
big bass 5 points

Again, remember that you have to drop the results from two tournaments during the regular schedule (classic results can not be dropped), so doing bad in one tournament doesn't ruin your chances.

Des Arc Tourney Winners! (Pictures)

DES ARC CHAMPIONS
Michael Brand and Shane Ray
and their 2 fish weighing 4.26lbs.
2nd Place (Brad Kieffner and Billy Keedy)
Brad Kieffner and his 3.77lb
Tournament Big Bass
3rd Place (Mike Warren and Billy Max Warren)
Mike Warren and his 1.98lb bass
I know it was a really tough day, but remember each boat only uses their 8 best tournament results (out of 10). Most people will use this one as a throw away and can start trying to make up ground at Bald Knob.
Also, notice at the bottom of each post there is a button that says comments. Please feel free to log in and make comments about the tournaments, pictures or fishing in general. It is really easy to create a user and start posting.

Des Arc Random photos

Here are a few random pics from the Des Arc tourney. I apologize if I got a name/spelling incorrect. Hopefully, we will have more random pics next week. This week is pretty short due to the amount of fish that were caught. If anyone has another camera and wants to take some more random shots and then email them to me, please feel free to do so.

Des Arc Tourney Results

DES ARC CHAMPIONS!!!
Michael Brand and Shane Ray
4.26 lbs
Second Place
Brad Kieffner and Billy Keedy
3.77 lbs (Big Bass)
Third Place
Mike Warren and Billy Max Warren
1.98 lbs
Congratulations to Michael and Shane!!! They were the only boat that survived the wind enough to bring two bass to the weigh-in. We had a wonderful showing...considering it was this early in the year and the wind was forecast to be so tough. The story of the day was the windy conditions and the bass not biting. I plan to post some pictures from the event in the next day or two. AOY standings will be posted a few days later.
Tournament Stats:
15 boats
27 Fisherman
7 bass weighed
15.01 lbs of bass weighed
3 trolling motors broken down (that I know of)
5 boats that voted to fish 8 hours instead of 6 (thank goodness 6 won....haha)!

Des Arc Tourney (Saturday, March 7th)

The time has finally arrived for the first 2009 Jackson County Bass Club tournament! There is supposed to be a group meeting at Wal-Mart parking lot ready to leave at 5:45 Saturday morning. The plan is to go to Searcy to eat breakfast and leave from there to head to Des Arc. Again, it would be very helpful if everyone can be at Des Arc by 7:30.

I plan to bring a copy of the rules for each boat. I want to have the website updated within a day or two after the tournaments. I will post tournament results, pictures, and updated AOY standings to this website after each tourney.

It looks like it is supposed to be warm and windy. Hopefully that will make the bass active. If you have any questions, please give me a call (870) 512-9400. If not, I look forward to seeing you Saturday morning!

Des Arc (Saturday, March 7th)

Well, it seems to have been a pretty good decision to postpone the tournament. The weather forecast was correct and it would not have been very good fishing weather AT ALL! The snow is gone and the forecast is for much warmer weather this week. It looks like we will get started Saturday morning.

We are going to start at 8:00, but please remember that it would be helpful for everybody to be there by 7:30. We will be taking entry fees, membership fees, votes for 6 or 8 hours of fishing, and drawing numbers for takeoff positions. This could take some time.

Please feel free to come by my office to pick up a copy of the updated tournament rules. Also, if you haven't paid your membership fee, you can get that taken care of this week too. We already have 18 paid members (4 new). I look for an increase Saturday morning.

The camera is charged. The website is up and running. The schedule is complete. The spreadsheet is set (for keeping up with AOY standings). The weather should be better. Now, it is just time to catch some bass!

Look forward to seeing everyone Saturday (or hearing from you this week)!
