Winter Open Number 2 Lake Norfork

We will be fishing our second open tournament at Lake Norfork next Saturday (December 3nd) . We will blast off from the dam site launch at 7:00 AM, and weigh in at 3:00 PM I should be there around 5 - 5:30 to start taking money. If anyone has any questions give me a call. Happy Thanksgiving!

We had 18 boats show up to Devil's Fork for the first winter series open and we were met with some tough fishing conditions. This is how the top 5 settled out, thanks to everyone for coming out and participating!  

Our next open will be at Lake Norfork on December 3rd at the Quarry Marina.  We will fish 7-3.

Winter Opens

Moving forward; for those of you that aren't ready to lay down the rods yet we have the first winter tournament coming up in a few weeks.  We are fishing Greers Ferry on November 5th blasting off at 7:00 from Devil's Fork.  I really hope to see a lot of familiar faces, and would be thrilled to see new.  If anyone would be willing to help set up the scales, or help with anything at all just let me know and I would be happy to have it!

We conclude the year with another trip to Conway and the father son duo of Blake and Mike Anschultz came in with the heaviest bag and heaviest fish for the second consecutive year.  Bob and Sawyer found a good sack of fish landing them in second place, and Kenny and Jeremy came in raking in the last of the bonus money in third place.  

I want to say thanks to a few guys for taking up the slack and running the show when I was out.  Things ran very smooth this year and mostly because of the help from a few guys in the club.  Blake took the reigns when I was out and made sure everything was well taken care of.  Jesse and Nicky stepped up and took over the scales and knocked that out of the park.  Guys, thanks again it wouldn't have worked without you.

I plan on setting down with the committee at the first of the year, I will call each of you with more details on the date closer to the time.  Be thinking of ways to improve the club, any idea you have I want to hear it.  

The regular club meeting will follow the committee meeting to go over details and vote on any changes that come up.  I will let you know of a date closer to then.

Winter Series

Moving forward with the winter series we have landed the first two tournament dates and locations.

November 5th - Greers Ferry Devils Fork - 7:30 - 3:30

December 3rd - Norfork Quary Launch (Damsite) 7:30 - 3:30

$40 Per person entry fee 75% pay out

-The lake will be open for pre-fishing no off limit time. 

-Only large, spotted, and small mouth bass of legal length may be weighed

-Short fish will receive a 2 pound penalty

-Any competitor late for weighin will be penalized 1 pound per minute. 10 minutes late you are disqualified.

-You may weigh only 1 dead fish with the dead fish you will acquire a 1 pound penalty.

-2 people per boat.

-Must wear a life jacket while outboard is running.

-Only artificial lures may be used. No live bait or prepared bait will be permitted. Only casting spinning or spin cast rod and reels may be used, and only one at a time.

-You may only exit the boat during tournament times in case of emergency.

-Pay at the ramp the morning of, one of us will try to be there at least an hour early to take money.

Something New

With the end of our regular season coming to an end next month it has been brought to my attention that quite a few of our guys aren't exactly ready to put their boats up for the winter.

With this interest, we are currently in the process of getting a winter series set up, we will try and have one tournament a month from November to February. No promises as of yet but within the next few weeks we should have it pretty close to being set.

We don't have dates, locations, or any of the specifics yet; however, we do know they will be open tournaments. 

Any input from our guys would be much appreciated. If you have ideas you would like to discuss get with me or Blake, message me on here, or give me a call!

The final regular season tournament turned out well with some nice sacks of fish being weighed.  We had 23 fishermen and only 12 boats show up, bringing in a total of 38 bass weighing a total of 91.14 lbs.  The classic entry was voted on and it will be double,  This means it is $50 per qualifying member to fish the classic which will be held at Lake Conway on October 15th.

AOY Championship at East Lake

The AOY Championship will be this Saturday (September 17th) at East Lake near Clarendon. We will fish from 6:30 - 2:30. There are a few guys still on the bubble to qualify for the classic with this being the last regular season tournament make sure you have made the cut!  If you have any questions feel free to give me a call.

Despite the rising water and heavy rains we still had a good turn out and had a good number of fish brought in, including the heaviest bag of fish this year!   There were 17 boats, bringing in 59 bass tipping the scales at 129.76 pounds.  The AOY Championship will be at East Lake on September 17th.

Now pay attention to this and I will use myself (Andy) as an example.  I personally have fished 3 tournaments; given that I fish the last two, I will qualify for the classic.  HOWEVER since I have fished only one with Greg and one with BJ if they do not fish the last two they will not be able to fish the classic with me as that will not have fished 3 to qualify.

 The rule reads - One of the two team mates must fish at least 5 of the regularly scheduled club tournaments to become eligible to fish in the Classic.  In order for your partner to be eligible he has to fish 3 regular season tournaments to qualify.

Hurricane Refuge Tournament Update

UPDATE! 

We will meet at the parking lot this Saturday and leave there at 5:30 NOT 6:00, make sure you're there early enough to get things in order and be out by 5:30. You will weigh in at HONEY LAKE be there at or before 2:00. Blake will give you directions that morning if you don't know how to get there. Any questions call me or Blake. Pass the word on.

Hurricane Refuge Tournament

Tournament week! We are going to be fishing Hurricane Refuge this Saturday, (July 23). We will meet in the main parking lot of the refuge to pay entry fees. At 6:00 AM you will be released to go to your desired fishing area, and are to be back to weigh in at 2:00 PM. You will be able to put in on the river and fish if you'd like to do so. Blake will be heading this one up, find him to pay the entry.
