NEW WEBSITE LINK

We now have a new website that will be maintained by Kris Jackson.  He has done a wonderful job getting the website set up, and it looks great.  Please click the following address to access our new website:

www.jacksoncountybassclub.com

This blog that we have used for the last 3 or 4 years will no longer be used.  Also, this is a reminder that we will have a meeting on Tuesday, January 10th at IberiaBank (6:00).  There is a really good chance that we will have raffle tickets that people can start selling sometime next week.

Thanks

MEETING!!!

We will have a meeting at Iberiabank (next door to Wal-Mart) at 6:30pm on Tuesday, December 13th.  This meeting will be held to discuss ideas for the upcoming season.  We will not set the fishing schedule.  This meeting could be very important for the future of our club.  If you have any ideas on how we should handle our tournaments or club going forward, PLEASE SHOW UP!!!  If you don't come, then you don't have the right to complain.  Anyway, RATT said to be there, so be there!

2011 CLASSIC RESULTS

Congratulations to Ricky and Bobby Gates for winning the 2011 Jackson County Bass Club Classic Tournament!!! Their victory propelled them to the Anglers of the Year Championship as well. They were able to surpass Brad Lewis and Dustin Roddy by 6.01 points. We had another wonderful year, and I look forward to having another great year next year! I talked to Ratt and the plan right now is to have a meeting in the next few weeks to decide everything for next year.

15th---51.41---Mike Warren and Terry Moore

I would like to thank everybody for the participation again. I really hope that next year we can keep the numbers up like they were this year. We averaged 17.83 boats per tournament. The most boats we had a tournament this year was 23 and the least was 14. We had 17 boats or more in 8 of the 12 tournaments.

The competitiveness of our club is great, too! This is the second year in a row that our AOY has been decided by less than 10 points. Out of 12 tournaments, we had 9 different boats win at least one tournament for the year.

FYI: If you are interested in fishing another local tournament this Saturday (Nov 4th), Rick Sampson called me to invite anybody from our club to fish at Tulot (7:30 am Saturday).

I hope that fishing with the Jackson County Bass Club has been as much fun the last few years for you guys (and gals) as it has for me!!!

CLASSIC TIME!!!

It is time for the 2011 Jackson County Bass Club CLASSIC!!! We will launch from the Hill Creek ramp at 6:50-7:00 Saturday morning. Please make sure to be there at around 6:30, so we can make sure we get out on time. It is possible that we could leave the ramp at 6:50 or so if the weather permits so we can beat the large tournament out.

The order we will launch has been determined by the AOY standings. It will cost $10/person to fish the classic. Listed below is what will be rewarded on Saturday:

AOY will receive $200 ($100/man) and bragging rights!

Classic finish per boat
place-$$$$$---AOY points
1st---$600----40 points
2nd--$300----30 points
3rd--$200-----20 points
4th--$150-----10 points
5th--$100-----5 points
BigBass-$150--10 points
2ndBig---$50--5 points

We will pay for the top two big bass. This is biggest bass per boat. One boat can NOT win both Big Bass and 2nd Big Bass. In case of a very disappointing tournament in which only one or two boats catch keepers (unlikely), a boat can only collect on one place of prize money. For example, if one boat catches one keeper and everybody else zeroes, that boat would receive $600 for 1st and $150 for big bass. The rest would remain club money. Again, this is very unlikely, but you never know....haha!

If you happen to be one of the lucky ones that will win something Saturday, it is very likely I will mail you a check the week after the tourney. Please call with any questions! 512-9400

Thanks and Good Luck!!!

Congratulations to Bill Wooten and Ken Youngblood! They battled the tough bite the best of all and had 7.69 pounds to squeak out the win by only about 4 ounces. Chris Clark brought a youngster along to help him catch fish and they were able to bring in 7.47 pounds to take second place. Third place went to Ricky and Bobby Gates. They had a nice sack of over 7 pounds as well. Fourth went to Brad Kieffner and myself with 6.71 pounds. The big bass was weighed in by Calvin Ward and another youngster, Kyler Grissom. They brought in a 3.26 pounder that was easily the big fish of the day. It is great to have these young guys fish with us!

As you can see, Lewis and Roddy have a pretty good lead, but behind them it is pretty tight for the next 5 spots. Still one more tournament to make a move and then the all-important Classic, which is worth double points! We decided to delay our decision on the location of our classic. We will fish at East Lake on the 8th and decide at that time. Please feel free to call me to discuss options for the Classic. 512-9400

Arkansas River (Pendleton)

We will launch from the Pendleton Ramp (right below the Hwy 165 bridge) at 5:45 a.m. Saturday morning. Please be there by 5:30 to ensure we get out on time. We will probably fish until 1:30 or so, so be prepared to be there for a while. I don't think many people are going to want to drive down there that far and only fish 6 hours. If you disagree with this, please feel free to call me.

I would also ask that you contact me in the next few days to let me know if you plan to fish, so I will have an approximate number in mind to be looking for on Saturday. Good luck to everybody and please be very careful driving down (and dodging gators while fishing!)!

OPEN TOURNAMENT THIS SATURDAY!!!

The Jackson County Bass Club is going to host an open tournament this Saturday at Lake Conway. We will put in at Palarm Creek Landing and start fishing at 6:00 and plan to weigh in at 2:00. To ensure we have enough people going, I would appreciate each of you contacting me to let me know if you plan to attend. If you know of others that are going also, please let me know.

We will pay out based on how many people show up. It will cost $25 per man. There are no points that will be awarded for our AOY standings. Non-members are welcome and will not count as a guest as far as the club season goes. Remember, if you plan to be there, please let me know. Call or text (870) 512-9400.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

CONWAY UPDATE

We are going to launch at 6:00 tomorrow morning. Try to be there at around 5:45 or so. Please call someone and let them know this. I posted this info a couple of days ago, but for some reason it wasn't showing up. We will be able to go out of Palarm Creek landing again and I expect to have another good crowd. I am sorry that the original post was removed, but I plan to fish until 2:30 or 3:00 tomorrow.

The weather is supposed to be great! I hope to see you there.

SCHEDULE CHANGE----May 14th Tournament

Due to current water level issues at Peckerwood and the wonderful results at Lake Conway, and after consulting with numerous club members, I have made the "executive decision" to change the location of the May 14th tournament from Peckerwood to Lake Conway again. On May 14th we will go out of Palarm Creek Landing again and hope the club slaughters the bass like what occurred earlier today. We have an open date at the end of the season, so we will consider Peckerwood for that tournament.

Please try to spread the word that the May 14 location has changed to Lake Conway. If you have any questions, please give me a call. If you have complaints about this, please contact Nicky Gates and obviously you weren't at today's weigh-in.

Second place went to Marvin Ross and Raymond Bradley. They got their 2011 season on track with a 13.90 lb bag of largemouth. Third went to Brad Lewis and Dustin Roddy. Their third place finish has put them right in the running for AOY. They are currently in second place in the standings. Fourth place belonged to Chris Clark and Mark Watson. Their bag was just big enough to hold off numerous boats that had double digit bags as well.

Nobody got lost too bad (Nicky), the scales worked, we didn't get too wet (except Jordan Walker when he fell in), and a whole lot of fish were brought to the weigh-in. It was a wonderful tournament and I think we all look forward to doing it again!

Conway---Thursday UPDATE

From what I understand, there were some people from our club that fished at Conway yesterday. It sounds like we might have to take a different route to get there, but that will be fine. I have been told that if you turn left on Hwy 107 right when you get to the Vilonia School there is a way to get there easily.

I will try to update again tomorrow, but I feel pretty confident in saying that we are fishing Saturday. Let me know if you hear anything crazy or helpful!

Thanks

Lake Conway Update

I just want to let everybody know that the Lake Conway tournament scheduled for this Saturday is currently still ON! We have somebody monitoring the water level there and it seems like we should be fine. If that changes for some reason, I will update the website. Please check the website periodically over the next couple of days for any changes.

As of right now, the plan is to fish out of Palarm Creek Landing. We will leave out at 6:30 and probably weigh-in at 3:00. This will allow 8 hours of fishing and 30 minutes to motor (SLOWLY) to and from where you are going to fish. It looks like the next couple of days are going to bring dry weather, so hopefully that will allow the lake level to drop a little more and everything will be fine. Again, we are still scheduled to fish and unless something drastic changes, I don't see that changing. PLEASE STAY TUNED!

Call with any questions.

Congratulations to Brad and Larry Lewis!!! They overcame the tough bite and windy conditions to bring 8.38lbs of bass to the (jacked up) scales. Their majority smallmouth sack squeaked by for the win. Second place went to Kenneth Haney. He caught 4 largemouth that weighed 8.16 lbs to put him in the top 4 for the second straight tournament. Third went to Jordan and Jerry Walker. They followed up their previous Greers Ferry 2nd place finish with a 3rd place finish that was aided by the days big bass of 3.51lbs. Newcomer Greg Latting had a good opening appearance with a limit of bass that weighed 6.84 lbs to finish 4th. Welcome to the club! I want to apologize for the delay with the scales. We couldn't get it to convert from kgs to lbs, so we had to manually compute the difference. In the end, it didn't matter because we got the correct weights, but I hate that everybody had to wait. Thanks to Rob Hill and Mike Warren for trying to help figure it out. We have now figured out how to get it to work and should get them weighed in a timely manner from now on!

Greers Ferry #2

We will launch from Devils Fork this Saturday morning for our third tournament of the season and our second on Greers Ferry. We will leave the ramp at 6:30, so please try to have your boat on the water by 6:15. I still hope to have the pictures from the last tournament loaded soon, but we have had some technical difficulties. Spread the word that we are fishing Saturday and it is supposed to be a beautiful 85 degrees! I hope to see 20+ boats again! BK

Congratulations to Bill Wooten and Kenneth Youngblood!!! They were the only pair that brought a double-digit sack to the scales. Their 5 fish that weighed 11.31 beat the field and secured the Norfork title for them. Second Place went to Doug Cockrill and Dennis Browning. They braved the weather for a near double-digit sack and held on for a second place finish. Michael Brand and Justin Doyle binked their way to a third place finish with 5 fish that weighed just under 9 pounds. Kenneth Haney brought 4 largemouth to the scales that averaged 2 pounds apiece to take 4th. The monster fish of the day went to Kris and Kevin Jackson. During a tough day on the water, they were able to bring a 4.19lb largemouth to the scales. Congrats to all of you!
It was a terrible day for fishing, but there were a number of fish caught. We had a motor that wouldn't start, a person falling in the lake, a carp in a boat, numerous rain showers, many numb fingers, and one wild looking pair of boots (Raymond Bradley)! Again, thanks to everyone for toughing it out at Norfork. It says a lot for the club when 18 boats will show up and fish knowing the weather is going to be bad. See you soon!

Norfork (Jordan Landing)

We will launch at 7:00 Saturday morning from Jordan. Please try to be there by 6:30 or 6:40 so we can get out right at 7:00. Be prepared with warm and dry clothes because it looks like we may get some showers Saturday. Sorry I am posting the launch time so late. I totally forgot to update the website. I hope this didn't inconvenience anybody! See you all Saturday.

Congratulations to Nicky and Fuzzy Gates! With 22 boats leaving the ramp this morning, it was going to take a nice sack of fish to win. Nicky and Fuzzy brought that nice sack to the weigh-in! Their 11.76 pounds were good enough to hold off Jordan and Jerry Walker. The Walkers had 4 fish that included the big bass of the day.....a 5.65 lb largemouth. Third place went to Rob and Ratt. Their 9.76 pound sack was aided by a healthy 5.38 lb largemouth. Bobby and Ricky Gates didn't bring a 5 pounder to the scales, but they did bring the only other 5 fish limit which was good enough for fourth.

We had a tremendous turnout today for a February tournament, and there were some nice fish brought to the scales. I would like to, again, say welcome back to everybody and welcome aboard to a few of you knew guys that fished with us. We already have 44 members, and I am sure we will continue to add new members in the next few upcoming tournaments. Pictures should be posted in the next few days. Hopefully there will be numerous other pics added to our Facebook page (Jackson County Bass Club) as well.
Thanks for participating and please pass the word on about our club. It looks like we have another good year ahead of us!

It's Time to Start the 2011 Season!!!

We are only 3 days away from starting the 2011 season. Please remember that pre-fishing is now off limits for the Greers tournament this Saturday. We are going to put in at Devils Fork and launch at 8:00am. We will tentatively plan to weigh in at 4:00pm. I have already received a few calls about the tournament and the season. I expect to have a pretty good crowd Saturday and for the season. Please remind past club members and future members of the tournament.

I would really appreciate everybody trying to be there at around 7:15 or so. That will give us time to get members paid and signed up and also take tournament fees. Remember, at least one boater must be a paid member, so it will be easier if everybody just pays up their membership fee this week. The membership fee is now $25 per person and the tournament fee is $25 per person as well. If you would like to pay your membership before the tournament, just come see me.

If you would like to keep up with our club another way, please follow us on Facebook (Jackson County Bass Club). It looks like the weather should be nice, so I hope to see many people there Saturday morning!

Please feel free to call with any questions! (870-512-9400)
Thanks
BK

Upcoming Tournament Notes

I just wanted to let everybody know that I have heard from a few people that there is another tournament going out of Devils Fork the same day we are fishing. After thinking about it and checking into things, I think we are just going to go ahead and go out of Devils Fork at 8:00am. The other tournament is supposed to take off at safe light, so they should be out of our way, and the parking lot should be plenty big enough.

Also, I have been informed that there is going to be an OPEN fishing tournament this Saturday(Feb 19) at Poinsett in Harrisburg. The tournament will be from 8:00 until 2:00. $50 per boat and 5 fish limit. For any other details contact Rick Sampson at 501-940-7986.
